Polina Khoronko (b. 1987, Russia) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Valencia, Spain. With a Master’s degree in Architecture, her practice is built at the intersection of structural spatial analysis and the emotional perception of the environment.
At the core of her work is the question of how individuals find themselves within the urban landscape and what makes a place feel like “one’s own.” Polina explores the city not merely as a collection of buildings, but as a space of states: from the monumental stasis of architecture to the subtle changes of light and chance encounters . Her work is also a search for balance between the external world and the internal sense of “home,” which can manifest as both a physical building and a fragile state of memory.
Working with a variety of materials — ranging from drawing and painting to small-scale architectural forms — Polina captures moments of anonymity and silence within an ever-changing environment. Field research is a vital part of her process: through plein-air sessions and rapid urban sketching, she captures the fleeting states of the environment that later serve as the foundation for her studio works. Her artistic method is an attempt to grasp the connection between the permanence of the material world and the elusive nature of human presence.
